In this chapter Cole (the main character) tells how he came in Alaska. He broke in a store, but his friend: Peter Driscal, reported him. Then after his parents got him out of trouble (as they always do) he beat Peter up very bad. This time Cole's parents didn't get him out of jail, because they divorced. When he was in jail not many persons visited him except Garvey, his probation officer. He gave him the idea to heal him not punish him by circle justice. He said that he really wanted that, but he only wanted to avoid jail.
